New page

MEETING 10/12/2020

=EXEC REPORTS=
Dez - Had weekend, event happened. Dez killed a man in front of james, lied, and apparently was trustworthy enough
James - Lied, didn't lie, didn't matter
Kushal - spent most of weekend trying to get database to work. Also, got yelled at by a scrabble-bot
Sawyer - got lost in an old game
Oliver (not Liam ) - had a weekend, was spent doing secret things, did a fade transition to Oliver - had a weekend, pretended to be liam, called the census bureau

=COMMITTEE REPORTS=

Tim - The news in limericks comm - Republicans rose to condemn
How Biden continues to hem.
It’s wrong to support
Reshaping the court,
They argue, unless it’s by them.
Henry - Practical* Science* Solutions* - a common problem in earth science disciplines, only 1 planet to do experiments on. Several smaller bodies (i.e. titan) - if we split earth into 50 smaller planets, it would be more efficient
Tim- ad-hoc woke chamber of commerce- unspecified federal holiday prevents business today

=OLD BUSINESS=

Oliver had the thing, who wants it now?
Henry wants it
is his fault that we're never getting the spirit of the thing back unless you comb the potomac
Is his fault dez was forced to give the thing
TIM, DOTH WE HAVE ELDERLY BUSINESS?
Yes!
from 10/5: Motion to banish pathological functions in analysis to the shadow realm: just that
we were gonna define it but it's part of a future standing rule maybe
Sam - if the definition were in effect, could tim tell us?
Tim- it's enactment is not announced when it goes into effect, so whatever that means.
Kushal - with sam, we don't table it, instead see what happens
Liam - wants to be in minutes
On an unrelated note to that, nobody wants to answer what a pathological function is
So we're voting on the tabling now:
Passed, been tabled

=NEW BUSINESS=

Liam - mtn to make the KGB constitutional originalism comm - to interpret the KGBylaws and constitution as the founding fathers intended. Futhermore, I consider that all versions of Carthage must be destroyed
Sam - mtn to amend the motion to replace "originalism" w/ "strict constructionalism"
Unfriendly, pursued - Discussion on Sam's motion:
Liam - anyone voting for this is traitor to constitution
Moving to vote, fails
Moving back to main motion
Henry - motion to "Futhermore, I consider that all versions of Carthage must be destroyed" to the purpose of this comittee
Liam - unfriendly, but would be supportive of this clause being added into the bylaws
James - all cities named carthage? - yes, apply salt as necessary
Woody - motion to change "Carthage" to "all versions of Carthage"
Liam - while this comm is unopposed to carthage increasing its yearly salt intake, I don't want in my comm description
Passed, been changed, Liam has lost control of motion
Oliver notes meeting should take place via nintendo
Passed, moving to auction: Auctioned to Oliver for a dollar, chaired by any baron
James - motion to create a new standing rule such that _ is instead passed __ by individuals only
Which is actually: [ James's table discussion rule] - "Motion to create a standing rule such that any tabled person can motion to meet on any tabled motion.
The motion is then untabled, but is instead passed only if approved the appropriate percentage of tabled individuals instead of all individuals."
SamSkim - what happens when no tabled individuals? - Wouldn't come into effect, no worries
Tim - what if someone became untabled during the motion but was untabled only after their motion was created
In such a case, the chair would look favorably on non-tyrannically resolving it
Yet apparently the tabling of an individual is not privlidged
Sam - microphone intercourse
Henry - lots of potential for good puns if people read the powdermage trilogy apparently
Liam changes name to James's table discussion rule, ruled friendly
Passed, now done
Kevin - motion to rename dhreed hall to carthage
Oliver- so how do we destroy Carthage then? That's for comm to figure out
Paaassed?
Kate - Motion to make a delayed standing rule that would enact on Mon Oct 26th at 5:57 pm that upvote and downvote emojis cannot be repeats of any emojis used in the previous 3 votes. If a repeat emoji is used, any votes made with that emoji are discounted
Tim - in favor in spirit, but want the last line to be changed to not disenfranchise people for reason of pot of dhreed
Oliver - motion to amend "any votes with that emoji are discounted" to banish "the chair to the shadow realm"
Liam Motions to amend that, but change the last part to "will be ejected from the meeting"
but Oliver got no seconds so we need to go back and make an actual amendment
Liam - strike "any votes made with that emoji are discounted" and replace with "The chair is ejected from the meeting and a new chair is selected in accordance to KGB bylaws"
On that discussion:
Kate - it's a bad idea, we only have so many people in the line of succession, this seems like disaster
Worth noting: if this occurs twice, the meeting will implode (only 5 exec members attending meeting)
After much discussion, the amendment is retracted
Kate give a proposal: "Append to motion that, in the case of a repeat emoji resulting in discounted votes, the votes given to the next most similar emoji to it will instead be counted by vote of the general body"
Quote dez: "that whole amendment is dilatory as all fuck"
James - strike "any votes made with that emoji are discounted" and replace with "The rules are suspended, the chair is ejected from the meeting and a new chair is selected in accordance to KGB bylaws. This rule can only be enacted once per meeting"
apparently amending amendments isn't okay, so we'll just go to the amendment and come back later
Good god we're so lost in this motion
James's amendment passed!
Liam - -strike "This rule can only be enacted once per meeting"
-replace "The chair is ejected from the meeting" with "The chair is declared vacant"
Liam's amendment passed
Back to original motion (Motion to make a delayed standing rule that would enact on Mon Oct 26th at 5:57 pm that upvote and downvote emojis cannot be repeats of any emojis used in the previous 3 votes. If a repeat emoji is used, The rules are suspended, The chair is declared vacant and a new chair is selected in accordance to KGB bylaws.
PASSED
Apparently dez interprets that as not reusing the specific "repeat" emoji, but this is constitutionally originally condemning

=REAL/RELEVANT ANNOUNCEMENTS=

Dez- exec exists
James - event - find it
We extended dues grace period to the end of november (11/29)

=SCHMUCKS=

Liam - create hunt for puzzles - encourages participation
Henry - reminded that he reads lots of books, demands people talk to him about books. Posits a book club for the next eternity
Tim - register 2 vote - deadline is a week from 2day - cannot vouch for 3rd party - lots of signs about OH of registration apparently
Kate - this is org unofficial - dez and her live off campus, wants to see peeps. Any meetup (DONE RESPONSIBLY, DISTANCED) the saturday after friday after this friday
Won't leave the home for 2 weeks beforehand, will make food, will wear masks, don't bring her a covid
If interested, let Kate know
Motion to blue, gitfo
dilatory
