Skibo is a name which has at various times been applied to just about everything on CMU's campus. From buildings to dining facilities to alumni memorial coat racks to fonts by jcreed, the goofy moniker of an obscure Scottish castle graces more facets of Carnegie Mellon life than almost anything else.
Normally, however, when an old-timer says "Skibo", he means the building that served as CMU's student center up until 1994. Skibo was roughly H-shaped, and the center was a mass of curiously exciting carpeted geometric platforms called "Grey Matter".
"Skibo" is pronounced "skee bow", which is inexplicable, since the obscure Scottish castle is pronounced "sky bow". (Or maybe not. There is debate.)
