Units

Units are the units by which CMU classes are measured. Most colleges and universities give each course a value in "credits". Credits usually represent the number of hours each week that a student in that course will spend in class. CMU however, uses "units", which are sometimes advertised as the number of hours each week that a student in that course will spend both attending class and doing work related to the course. A course at another institution that would be "worth" 3 credits is worth 9 units at CMU. The naive will assume that "units" are merely 3 times the number of credits. That is probably wrong.
