"The Roselawn Seven" is the nickname commonly applied to a group of KGB members, a detachment of the 501st Scout Artillery, who were killed in combat on August 25, 1996. They voluntarily remained in the line of fire to cover the retreat of the remainder of their unit; their sacrifice permitted the rest of the 501st to escape destruction, and has often been cited as the turning point, both in morale and strategy, of the war.

A plaque commemorating the Roselawn Seven was erected on the tenth anniversary of the battle, but its location is a closely guarded secret.
