A game created one fateful evening, inspired by the creativity of tvaughan and many others.
The game begins with players sitting in a circle, as if to play Duck-Duck-Goose. One player stands in the middle, the man in the well. He goes to a player on the out rim and shouts "I AM THE MAN IN THE WELL!" to which the whole circle responds with the same phrase. He does this three times before the last player he addresses trades places with him, becomes the man in the well, and repeats.
The game from then on moves to nonsensical other games where the rules are mostly made up on the spot. Some examples from the original playing of The Man in the Well include:
Blue: whenever a player says "blue", every player must put his hands together palm-to-palm, and with his arms stretched out straight, point to a wall. The first wall is set as the blue wall. Every other time "blue" is called, players point to the blue wall, and on the other times, they point to a different wall, the ceiling, or the floor.
Elbow to the wall: all players touch their elbows to a wall.
Duck-Duck-Goose on a lava ice rink: The floor is lava... but also an ice skating rink. Therefore players must either be 1) not on the ground or 2) on the ground, but miming ice-skating. While players are skating, the tagger will go around and tap people as in Duck-Duck-Goose. When a goose is selected, the goose chases the tagger until the tagger is tagged. Then the tagger stops skating and enveloped in the lava and dies.
