Humans vs Zombies, or HvZ, is a game originally run by the Parkour Club before it was taken over by the KGB. It features two groups: the humans, who are armed with nerf weapons capable of stunning zombies, and the zombies, who are armed with hands capable of turning humans into the undead.

Rules debates are common.

Types of Zombies

Zombies can be split into different types, which are granted special powers as a way of making the game more interesting.

  • Ordinary Zombies: run-of-the mill undead, can turn humans with a mere touch
  • Tanks: Can not be stunned by nerf weapons
  • Hive Minds: Can communicate with other zombies instantaneously over great distances via their connected brain (or cell phones, whatever is easiest to set up)
  • Spitters: Can throw socks to stun humans
  • Knights: Wield foam swords snd cardboard shirlds and can kill humans (although that will be changing to stun shortly)
  • Witches: Begin by sleeping, but if enough noise is made, go on a rampage, where for a set length of time they are invulnerable

Types of Weapons

Only certain types of weapons are allowed, as being beaten with a club is slightly less fun if the club is made of metal instead of, say, foam.

Weapons are only wielded by humans and certain zombies.

Sometimes certain weapons are given special powers.

  • Nerf weapons: Always allowed. Stun zombies for a set length of time, during which the zombies cannot attack or turn humans.
  • Cure darts: Specially colored nerf darts that can turn special zombies into humans.
  • Socks: Always allowed. Projectile weapons that stun target.
  • Swords: Must be Nerf brand or made of foam, wrapping paper tubed, or padded according to organizers' specifications.

Rules

These are usually pretty helpful in making sure the game runs smoothly.

Missions

Missions are small events within the games that happen on most nights. An objective is set out for the humans or zombies to complete in exchange for pre-set rewards, which tend to make either the game in general or future missions easier for that side.

Common rewards include more time to complete future missions and more safe zones.
